PORT ANGELES — Keeping Choice Alternative High School open, increasing recycling and facility rental fees, and reducing busing costs topped the list of budgeting suggestions during a School District work session Wednesday.

Approximately 80 residents attended the meeting to help the district find ways to cut $500,000 to $1 million from its 2003-04 budget.

District officials broke the audience into small groups to discuss School District Fiscal Advisory Committee budget cutting recommendations.

The 16-member committee comprises district staff, School Board members, union leaders and community members.
