Joblessness rises on Peninsula, holds steady statewide

OLYMPIA — Washington state’s jobless rate for November was unchanged from October at 9.2 percent, with only an estimated net gain of 100 jobs statewide over the month, the state Employment Security Department said today.

In Clallam County, the jobless rate rose from 9.1 percent in October to 9.6 percent in November.

Jefferson County unemployment rose to 9.0 percent, up from 8.5 percent in October.

“Job growth is in a holding pattern,” Employment Security Commissioner Paul Trause said.
