Garden club donates to local organizations

QUILCENE — The Quilcene-Brinnon Garden Club recently donated $3,650 to eight local organizations.

The club used funds from its Memorial Day plant sale to support organizations that make the community safer and healthier.

Recipients include:

• Gifts in Kind, $500 for maintenance of their warehouse and trailer.

• Dollars for Scholars, $500 for scholarships to next year’s graduates.

• Quilcene Community Center, $350 for replacement stove/oven.

• Quilcene Fire Rescue, $500 for CPR manikins and defibrillators for community training.

• Center Valley Animal Rescue, $500 for their spay/neuter clinic.

• Brinnon Fire Department, $500 for CPR classes.

• Weekend Nutrition Program, $500 for weekend food packets for local schoolchildren.

• Quilcene Historical Museum, $300 for landscaping plants in Worthington Park.

The club meets monthly at 1 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101.
