PORT TOWNSEND — A man in his mid-70s was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he was treated on scene for injuries sustained during a fall on a trail by Fort Worden’s Battery Tolles, according to East Jefferson Fire Rescue personnel.

The man’s name was not released due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations, so an updated condition was not available.

The fall was witnessed Tuesday afternoon by other two people on the trail who immediately called 9-1-1.

“With trauma injuries, time to the appropriate hospital is an important factor,” Fire Chief Brett Black said. “The call to 9-1-1 enabled us to get on scene quickly and obtain the fastest possible medevac flight to our region’s Level 1 trauma care hospital.”
