EYE ON JEFFERSON: County considers tax to fund affordable housing

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider implementing a sales and use tax to fund affordable housing when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will hear an update on COVID-19 from Dr Tome Locke at 9:45 a.m., consider authorizing county employees to use accrued sick time to self-isolate for 14 days after travel and hear a briefing from the Jefferson County Foundation and United Good Neighbors concerning their support of Jefferson County communities.

Items on the consent agenda include a resolution to transfer Four Corners Pit to Jefferson Public Utility District in exchange for a trail easement, a temporary closure of Beausite Lake Road, acquisition and design of the Dosewallips River power lines, tobacco and vapor prevention funding and an application for a Federal Land Access Program grant for new culvert and bridge on Oil City Road.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will hear a 2021 legislative review from Insight Strategic Partners and discuss the legislative agenda during a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority board is expected to accept $350,000 from the Fort Worden Foundation and to authorize an application for a $214,000 grant anticipation note from Kitsap Bank when it meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
