PORT ANGELES — Excavator operator Ed Clevenger, foreman for Aberdeen-based general contractor Rognlin’s Inc., tamped the ground Monday in downtown Port Angeles off Railroad Avenue to accommodate truck traffic during the upcoming demolition of several buildings for the new Lower Elwha Klallam hotel.

Clevenger said he expects workers will begin razing buildings, starting with the former Necessities & Temptations gift shop to Clevenger’s left, after city officials conduct a final inspection this week.
