NEWS BRIEFS: Read, Eat Gathering set for tonight; financial planning talk also tonight

CLALLAM BAY — The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host a Read & Eat Gathering at 6:30 p.m. today at the Clallam Bay Library.

This month’s theme is seasonal cooking.

Interested attendees should check out a cookbook and then bring a dish from it to the gathering to share.

Suggested books include: “Gather: Everyday Seasonal Food From a Year in Our Landscapes” by Gill Meller, “Portland Farmers Market Cookbook: 100 Seasonal Recipes and Stories That Celebrate Local Food and People” by Ellen Jackson, “The Soup & Bread Cookbook: More Than 100 Seasonal Pairings for Simple, Satisfying Meals” by Beatrice Ojakangas, “Molto Batali: Simple Family Meals from My Home to Yours” by Mario Batali and “Cooking In The Moment: A Year in Seasonal Recipes” by Andrea Reusing.

Future programs include: one pot meals in October, pies in November and cookies in December.

Financial planning

SEQUIM — The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host an introduction to financial planning by Ray Chirayath at 6 p.m. today.

The public is invited to this free presentation at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Chirayath will present the same program at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

These informational presentations are geared toward people new to financial planning.

There will be time for questions following the presentation.

Chirayath is a financial advisor with DA Davidson, he also serves on the United Way of Clallam County, the Port Angeles Education Foundation

and the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.
