Official: Stuck angler helped out of Sol Duc River

Fishermen helped an unidentified stranded angler out of the Sol Duc River on Saturday morning.

Clallam County Fire District No. 1 Chief Bill Paul said Sunday that Beaver firefighters responded for a water rescue on the Sol Duc River near Pavel Road at about 6 a.m. Saturday.

When firefighters arrived, an unidentified fisherman was already launching his boat into the river and helped the rafter out safely, he said.

The rafter lost his oars and was stuck in a back current near the Sol Duc Hatchery.
