Court hearing delayed for suspect in Port Angeles standoff

PORT ANGELES — A court hearing for a Port Angeles man charged with nine crimes related to a police standoff in January and an alleged assault in the Clallam County jail in February was moved Friday to May 27.

Ordez Eugene Kompkoff’s status hearing was moved because a defense psychiatrist has not yet met with the defendant.

Clallam County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jesse Espinoza did not object to the continuance.

Kompkoff, 21, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree escape, heroin possession and two counts of harassment-threats to kill in connection with a standoff with law enforcement at the Salt Creek RV Park on Jan. 26.

He was charged in a separate case with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault for alleged attacks on a fellow inmate Feb. 7 and Feb. 10.

A trial is scheduled in both cases for June 13.

Kompkoff remained in the Clallam County jail Saturday with no bond set.
