EYE ON CLALLAM: Awarding of contract to replace Dungeness Landing piling on agenda at Tuesday commissioners meeting

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider awarding a $42,700 contract to Rognlin’s Inc. of Aberdeen for the Dungeness Landing piling replacement project Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

■ A proclamation recognizing September as recovery month.

■ A state Recreation and Conservation Office presentation of the Bravo Award for the Spruce Railroad-McFee Tunnel restoration project. The project at Lake Crescent was the top scorer in a grant competition.

■ An agreement with Interwest Construction Inc. for the courthouse stormwater low-impact-design retrofit project.

■ Agreements with the state Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery providing contract language and funding for Trillium Treatment Center, West End Outreach, Reflections Counseling Services Group and True Star Behavioral Health Services.

■ An agreement with Peninsula Behavioral Health funding staffing for the Clallam County Respite Center.

■ Agreements with the state Department of Transportation for improvements to Black Diamond Road, guardrails, a radar speed control sign project for Deer Park and Little River roads, and centerline rumble strips for Old Olympic Highway.

■ Notice of an Oct. 13 hearing on proposed amendments to county policy for budget changes and modifications.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday for their weekly work session.

Discussion items will include the acquisition of donated property from a private landowner on Lake Crescent.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will continue considering capital spending, year-end predictions and budget assumptions when they gather Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. in port headquarters, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

A time-specific audit-exit conference will start at 9:30 a.m.

Other agenda items include a change order to the KPly mill site remediation project, a strategic plan update and an economic development services agreement with the Composite Recycling Technology Center.

Clallam Transit

The Clallam Transit board will meet in Forks to gather input from West End residents Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

The meeting agenda includes a public hearing on the 2014-20 transit development plan, with board action to follow the hearing.

Other agenda items include:

■ Approval of an updated compensation plan for non-represented personnel.

■ Acceptance of a memorandum of understanding with the general manager.

■ Recognition of transit operator David Larrabee for taking third place in last month’s state bus roadeo competition in Vancouver.

■ Commendation to operations supervisor Linda Bell for earning the Employee of the Quarter award for the second quarter.

■ Memorandums of commendation for customer service for transit operators Joe Hooker and Jason McNickle.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider approving the prequalifications of contractors for inclusion on the district’s small-works roster Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the Port Angeles main office, 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101.

Sequim School Board

The Sequim School Board will introduce delegates from Sequim’s Sister City of Shiso City, Japan, when they gather Monday.

The board will meet at 5 p.m. at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

Other agenda items include review of personnel and of classroom management, discipline and corrective actions.

Marine resources

The Clallam County Marine Resources Committee will discuss its participation in next weekend’s Dungeness River Festival when the panel meets Monday.

The committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Enter the courthouse through the door north of the bus shelter on fourth street.

The committee also will hear about the services of the Island Oil Spill Association.
