WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard has suspended a search for two people who were reportedly aboard a 20-foot Boston Whaler that capsized in the area of the North Jetty of Grays Harbor.
Officials said the search was suspended at about 7:15 p.m. Friday after a 24-hour helicopter and boat search covering 555 square miles yielded nothing.
They were looking for Thomas Miller, 69, of Olympia and Tina Pittmann, 41.
The Coast Guard received a report at about 7 p.m. Thursday from a person who found debris from a boat on the beach.
Officials said the capsized boat, life jackets and other items washed ashore during the night.
A truck with an empty boat trailer owned by Miller was also found parked at the Westport boat launch.
Presentations on drug addiction recovery
PORT ANGELES — The Shelter Providers Network of Clallam County will hear two presentations on recovery from addiction when they meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
The group is composed of 50 organizations that combat homelessness.
The public is welcome.
Presenters will include Jayme Doane and Becky Shimko of Klallam Counseling on “More Awareness Can Bring More Healing” and Sally Beaven, administrative clinical supervisor of Specialty Services, giving an update on treatment and detoxification services.
Participants also will greet Major Sabrina Tumey of the Salvation Army.
No landing practice set in Coupeville
COUPEVILLE — There will be no field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field in Coupeville today through Saturday.
The schedule is subject to change to meet mission requirements.

‘Coffee and Chat’ planned today
SEQUIM — The city is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity at Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Co., 157 W. Cedar St., to host a “Coffee and Chat” meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a downtown neighborhood revitalization program and to hear from citizens about neighborhood needs.
Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County has selected the city of Sequim as a Neighborhood Revitalization focus location.
Habitat has allocated $5,000 from private donations and fundraising efforts for the Sequim project.
In addition, Sequim Sunrise Rotary has approved a $3,500 grant, which will be matched by the Rotary Foundation District Community Grant, totaling in $12,000 for neighborhood revitalization in Sequim.
Typical revitalization projects include weatherization, critical repair and rehabilitation of residential properties.
Labor for the projects will come from qualified revitalization applicants (lending sweat equity to their project), Habitat volunteers, Sequim Sunrise Rotarians and volunteers from other Sequim community groups that are interested in participating.
Habitat for Humanity will conduct a “Saturday Survey” by going door to door in the neighborhoods west of Sequim Avenue between U.S. Highway 101 and Fir Street to evaluate neighborhood needs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

PORT ANGELES — The Sons of Norway Lodge No. 37, located at 131 W. Fifth St., will have its traditional potluck dinner at 6 p.m. today.

Clinic on Uganda
PORT ANGELES — Marion Toepke, a certified nurse midwife, will discuss “Midwives and Mothers in Africa” at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave., from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Toepke’s presentation includes three sections: one about maternal mortality in Africa in general, a second about the Teso Safe Motherhood Project where she volunteers and the third about how to handle birth in such a way that it gives mothers and babies the best possible way to survive and thrive.
Although the presentation is free, Toepke will be seeking tax-deductible donations to the International Midwife Assistance organization to help fund her return to Uganda to present this conference and continue her work there.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Senior Nutrition Site dinners will be served at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.
A suggested donation is $5 for those who are 60 or older.
People younger than 60 can attend for $8.

Bike Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES — A summer community bike ride will take place at the waterfront esplanade in front of Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave., from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
There will be two suggested routes: one flat and easy along the waterfront, and one for those bicyclists who want a bit of a challenge.
The endpoint is back at Barhop Brewing.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early to park.
Coffee with mayor
SEQUIM — Due to travel schedules, there will be only one “Coffee with the Mayor” session this month, and it will be at the Oak Table Cafe, 292 W. Bell St., at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
