EYE ON CLALLAM: County hearing slated for Feiro, visitor bureau spending

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing to a consider a $99,000 expenditure for the Feiro Marine Life Center and Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau when they meet Tuesday.

The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Funding for the $75,000 payment to Feiro and $24,000 payment to the visitor bureau would come from hotel-motel tax revenue.

Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

■ An amendment agreement with Klallam Counseling Services to provide new and updated contract language.

■ An agreement with the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe for services to adults with co-occurring disorders.

■ Notice of bids due Aug. 18 for Elwha Interpretive Center kiosk panels.

■ A resolution appointing a member to the Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee.

■ A resolution adopting supplemental appropriations, a budget reduction and a budget revision.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. today for their weekly work session.

Port Angeles

Port Angeles City Council members will consider adopting a resolution for a Nov. 3 advisory ballot regarding continued fluoridation of the city’s municipal water when they meet in special session Tuesday.

The meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

It will be preceded by the monthly work session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at which council members will discuss the 2016 budget forecast and financial plan.

Sequim City Council

Sequim City Council members will host a public meeting concerning whether to extend a marijuana moratorium within city limits when they meet today.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

Other items on the agenda include consideration of:

■ Adoption of the 2016-21 Six-Year Capital Improvement Program.

■ Adoption of the 2016-21 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program and amending the Transportation Benefit District to include the new Transportation Improvement Program.

■ A request to reconsider the council’s July 13 approval of the Cameron Annexation.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will conduct a public hearing on a proposed six-year transportation plan today.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in City Council chambers, 500 E. Division St.

The plan covering 2016-21 is used by local, state and federal entities to prioritize and fund transportation projects.

The council also will consider a transfer of Quillayute Airport Federal Aviation Administration restricted funds and an ordinance concerning all-terrain vehicles operating within city limits.

Port of Port Angeles

The Port of Port Angeles’ three commissioners will consider awarding a bid to redevelop Terminal 1 when they meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday in port headquarters, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other items on the agenda include:

■ A contract and work plan with the Clallam County Economic Development Council (set for 9:15 a.m.).

■ Change orders for the gate/navigational aid project at William R. Fairchild International Airport and for concrete demolition at the former KPly mill site, 439 Marine Drive.

■ Bid awards to repair roofs at the 1020, 1030 and 1040 buildings at the airport industrial park.

■ Purchase of a log stacker.

■ Waiver of fees at the Port Angeles Yacht Club.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff update on major engineering projects for 2015 today.

The work session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the Port Angeles main office, 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101.
