PORT ANGELES — Two road projects are underway: one on U.S. Highway 101 between Port Angeles and Sequim and one on Marine Drive in Port Angeles.
State highway crews are putting the finishing touches on the 3.5-mile widening of Highway 101 between Kitchen-Dick and Shore roads.
Watch out for crews working on draining, landscaping and lane painting.
On Marine Drive, installation of a new water main along Marine Drive between Second Street and the log channel bridge at Nippon Paper Industries USA’s mill has begun.
The project is expected to take three months.
During construction, portions of Marine Drive may be reduced to one lane for vehicular traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., city officials said. The Waterfront Trail will remain open.
Meanwhile, crews continue to repair storm damage that washed out one lane of U.S. Highway 101 along Hood Canal just south of the Jefferson-Mason county line.
Crews have begun shoring up the steep hillside below the highway by essentially building a retaining wall. Alternating traffic is in effect.
