EYE ON CLALLAM: Port to consider former KPly site cleanup contract Monday

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider awarding a $3.57 million contract to clean up the former KPly mill site on Port Angeles Harbor to Engineering Remediation Resources Group Inc. of Seattle when they meet Monday.

Commissioners have moved the date of their regular meeting from its usual Tuesday to 9 a.m. Monday at the port headquarters, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider approval of $795,000 of professional services for the KPly cleanup by Floyd Snider of Seattle.

Other agenda items include:

■ A presentation by the state Department of Commerce at 9:15 a.m.

■ Acceptance of a completed access road project at William R. Fairchild International Airport.

■ Approval of a $1 million airport apron grant.

■ Purchase of a $585,000 log stacker.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will call for a July 28 hearing on a debatable budget emergency for a $99,000 expenditure for the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau and Feiro Marine Life Center on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

If the budget emergency is approved, the county will use hotel/motel tax money for a $75,000 payment to Feiro and $24,000 to the visitor bureau.

Other agenda items include:

■ A renewed agreement with the state Department of Social and Health Services for a secure crisis residential center.

■ An agreement with Bullard Smith Jernstedt Wilson, P.C., for legal representation in collective bargaining and employment issues.

■ An agreement with the state Department of Corrections for confinement, care and treatment of DOC offenders in the county jail.

■ Notice that supplemental appropriations and a budget reduction will be adopted July 28.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday for their weekly work session.

They will discuss an agreement with the state Department of Transportation for improvements to East Beach Road and board operating guidelines.

County Planning Commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will continue its review of recreational marijuana regulations and the shoreline master plan update Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Sequim City Council

The Sequim City Council will consider adopting a schedule to review the Storm and Surface Water Master Plan when they meet Monday.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in council chambers at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

Other agenda items include:

■ Reviewing a Sequim Family Advocates Request to develop parking.

■ Reviewing a resolution adopting the 2016-21 Transportation Improvement Program.

■ Approving a third amendment to the county jail contract.

■ Discussing a resolution establishing a Community Arts Support Program.

■ Reviewing the six-year capital improvement program.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will set a public hearing date for the 2016-20 six-year street plan when it meets Monday.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at 500 E. Division St.

The council also will consider providing notice of a request to vacate an easement and will discuss building permits for the second quarter.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider certified nurse midwife privileges when they meet Wednesday.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of Olympic Medical Center, 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

■ Purchase of esophageal manometry equipment to measure swallowing contractions.

■ Professional agreements with Swedish Health Services and OB-GYN and an employment agreement.

■ Purchase of real estate.

■ Purchase of a picture archiving and communication system to provide access to and storage of medical images.

■ Laboratory agreements.

Quillayute Valley schools

The Quillayute Valley School Board will consider a 2015-16 budget adoption timeline when it meets Tuesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the media center at Forks High School, 261 S. Spartan Ave.

The board also will consider adoption of the English language arts curriculum.

It will convene in executive session to discuss collective bargaining agreements.

Conservation district

The Clallam Conservation District will discuss a request for assistance for failing septic system repairs at Rivers End on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. at Armory Square, Suite H, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include a Washington Association of Conservation Districts report, cost-share rate approval, Washington Conservation Society membership and a cooperator agreement.

Clallam PUD

The Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners’ meeting for Monday has been canceled.

The next meeting will be July 20.
