PORT TOWNSEND — A discount preview performance of the tragicomic play “TANSTAAFL” — which stands for “There Ain’t No Such Thing as a Free Lunch” — is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St.

A look inside a Pacific Northwest town that has fallen into debt and disrepair, “TANSTAAFL” has Key City Public Theatre artistic director Denise Winter at the helm along with an ensemble cast of actors from around the North Olympic Peninsula.

The story brings us Crystal d’Gatezehnallen (Michelle Hensel), a wealthy woman who offers the town economic salvation — at a cost.

Tickets to Thursday’s preview are $15, and reservations can be made at 360-385-KCPT (5278).

When “TANSTAAFL” opens Friday night, tickets will range from $10 for students to $24.

Two pay-what-you-wish performances are set Sunday, April 26, and Thursday, April 30.

More about the show will be in this Friday’s Peninsula Spotlight, the Peninsula Daily News’ arts and entertainment section, as well as at www.KeyCityPublicTheatre.org.
