WEEKEND: Forks celebrates ‘Home for the Holidays’ at Festival of Trees this weekend

FORKS — The theme for the 20th annual Festival of Trees in Forks will be “Home for the Holidays” this weekend.

The decorated tree festival will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational Church, 280 S. Spartan Ave.

Apple cider, coffee, tea and doughnuts will be served.

The event includes live entertainment and a bake sale.

A live auction of decorated trees, most with accompanying premiums, and wreaths will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Festival of Trees is sponsored by Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rain Forest.

Gingerbread contest

The festival will include a gingerbread house contest.

Entry fees for the contest are $5.

Age categories are:

■ Children, 4 to 7 years old, $20 first prize, $10 second prize.

■ Youth, 8-15 years old, $30 first prize, $20 second prize.

■ Adult, 16 years and older, $100 first prize, $50 second prize.

The “Storytime” tree, decorated by Soroptimist members, will be raffled for $5 per ticket.
