BUSINESS — Port Angeles Albertsons honored for hiring of disabled workers

PORT ANGELES — Albertsons General Manager Darrell Chard was presented with the Clallam County Health and Human Services Business Leadership Advisory Committee Employer of the Quarter award at his Albertsons store on Lauridsen Boulevard.

Committee member Paul Collins, owner of Enviro-Clean Northwest, made the presentation Nov. 24.

The award recognizes employers who demonstrate diversity and inclusion in their hiring practices by having one or more employees with developmental disabilities in their employ.

Chard said having an employee with developmental disabilities in his store is good for team morale, and it helps the public see people with disabilities as “real people.”

The Business Leadership Advisory Committee is a business-to-business network promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the community and workforce.

They have established a mentorship program for businesses interested in exploring the possibility

of hiring individuals

with disabilities.
