STATE SWIMMING UPDATE: Port Angeles’ Macias earns two top-fives at preliminaries

FEDERAL WAY — Port Angeles sophomore Jaine Macias placed third in the 200-yard individual medley and fourth in the 100 breaststroke at the Class 2A state preliminaries Friday at King County Aquatic Center.
The finals will be held Saturday evening.
The Roughriders’ 200 medley relay team placed fifth in the preliminaries and their 400 freestyle relay team was sixth.
Also for Port Angeles, Carter Juskevich was seventh in the 200 freestyle.
Port Townsend’s Rose Ridder moved on to the finals in the 50 freestyle with an eighth-place finish and in the 1-meter dive with an 11th-place showing.
