Christmas for Children accepts applications until this Saturday

Christmas for Children is accepting applications to receive gifts this Christmas.

The program serves families living in Port Townsend, Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Nordland and Port Ludlow.

The application deadline is Saturday.

Where to apply

Application forms are available at the Port Townsend Food Bank, the Tri-Area Food Bank, the First Federal branch on Sims Way and the Port Townsend Department of Social and Health Services office.

Applications also can be obtained online at www.ptkiwanis.org or by emailing christmas4children@hotmail.com.

Giving trees

Starting this month, giving trees will be located throughout the community for those who would like to contribute to the program.

The trees will have tags available that list needed items and Christmas wishes requested by the families.

Those who choose tags are asked to return new, unwrapped items to the tree no later than Dec. 10.

In 2013, the Christmas for Children program served 740 children and 308 families in the county.

Monetary donations are appreciated to support those in need and can be mailed to P.O. Box 267, Port Hadlock, WA 98339.

■ Port Townsend: First Federal, Jefferson Title, Peninsula Credit Union, PT Athletic Club, Henery’s Hardware, Kitsap Credit Union, Hilltop Tavern, Bank of America, Silverwater Cafe, Union Bank, Wells Fargo, PT Golf Course, Fort Worden Commons and Dr. Fordham’s office.

■ Port Hadlock: Hadlock Building Supply, Olympic Equipment Rentals, Kitsap Credit Union, Bank of America, Kitsap Bank, Valley Tavern, Good Sports and Ferino’s Pizza.

■ Port Ludlow: Port Ludlow Beach Club, Port Ludlow Bay Club, Inn at Port Ludlow, Sound Bank and Kitsap Bank.
