Peninsula assemblies will honor region’s veterans early starting today

VETERANS WILL BE honored for their service to their country at events across the North Olympic Peninsula.
Most events will be Tuesday, which is Veterans Day, but some are being held earlier.
Here is a list of those set for this weekend:
Marine birthday ball
PORT ANGELES — The Mt. Olympus Marine Corps League will celebrate the 239th Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Saturday.
The ball will be at the Port Angeles Eagles Aerie No. 483, 2843 E. Myrtle St.
The cost is $35 per person.
The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and a ceremony are set to start at 6:30 p.m.
All veterans and their guests are invited to attend.

Elks veteran dinner
FORKS — The Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, invites all veterans and veterans’ widows to its annual Veterans Dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Veterans and veterans’ widows will be given a full-course meal at no cost. All others will pay $10 per person.
The general public is welcome to attend and honor those whose have served our country.
All proceeds benefit Elks’ veterans programs.
