NEWS BRIEFS — Photography talk slated on Monday in Port Angeles . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — The Sons of Norway will host “The Enchanted Isles: Journey to the Galapagos” at 7 p.m. Monday at the hall, 133 W. Fifth St.

Photographers Ken and Mary Campbell will share their experiences and photographs from their trip.

The community is invited to attend.

Refreshments will be provided.

Alzheimer’s group

CHIMACUM — The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a caregiver support group at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, from 10:25 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. Monday.

The event is free.

The groups provide a place for caregivers to learn and gain support from others caring for a person with memory loss.

They also serve as an opportunity for participants to receive information on care management, available services and research and treatment options.

A free support group for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals with memory loss is held the second Monday of each month.

Luncheon slated

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Christian Women’s Connection will host its annual country fair during a buffet luncheon on the second floor of the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant, 221 N. Lincoln St.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Admission is $16.

There will be a country store with gift baskets, baked goods, Christmas items and more.

Teri Schwiethale is the auctioneer for an open auction on larger baskets and items.

Tammie Armin will perform in a special musical program.

Anglers to meet

PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson chapter of Puget Sound Anglers will meet in the port commissioners’ office, 333 Benedict St., at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting is open to the public.

A sporting goods representative from Quimper Mercantile will present fishing gear samples and discuss individual needs.

Socializing begins at 6:30 p.m. with coffee, cookies and fish stories.

Coat collection

PORT ANGELES — RE/MAX Evergreen is accepting gently used or new coats or money dated toward the purchase of a coat for its Coats for Kids collection.

Items can be donated through Dec. 15 at the RE/MAX Evergreen office, 505 E. Eighth St., Suite B, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Finding peace topic of talk Sunday in PA

PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle St., will hold a 10:30 a.m. service Sunday with guest speaker the Rev. Pat Mawson.

The lesson is “Peace” and focuses on the question of “How do we find peace in a world that sometimes appears confusing?”

Mawson is an A Course in Miracles minister ordained by the Community Miracles Circle in San Francisco. She is also a Unity Prayer chaplain.

Free child care is available during the service.

A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

All are welcome.

Bible study returns

PORT ANGELES — Bible Study Fellowhip has returned in two Satellite Discussion Group (SDG) classes.

They are being held at Independent Bible Church, 116 E. Ahlvers Road.

A women’s evening class is held Thursdays from 6:55 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. in the Worship Center, Room 130.

A women’s day class is held Fridays from 9:20 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. in the Family Life Center.

The study is “The Life of Moses,” which continues until May 7.

Women are welcome to come any week to begin the study.

Lunch for leaders

PORT ANGELES — First Presbyterian Church, 138 W. Eighth St., will host a free lunch for pastors and key lay leaders from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Following lunch, Michael McBride will give a presentation, “Clergy Stress.”

McBride is an ordained minister and board-certified psychologist from Sequim.

Hebrew classes

Biblical Hebrew classes will take place at 3 p.m. the Cedarbrook Adventist Christian School, 461 Kennedy Road, Port Hadlock, on Thursday and at Sequim Calvary Chapel, 91 S. Boyce Road, Sequim, on Sunday, Nov. 16.

The classes start at an introductory level.

All ages and skill levels are welcome.

There is no tuition, though donations are welcome.

Collecting for nuns

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Senior Center is collecting Neosporin and Tylenol for Benedictine Nuns who work in medical clinics in Southwestern Tanzania.

The drive ends Nov. 30. The donations will be sent to Tanzania the first week of December.

The sisters staff several dispensaries in Tanzania and work with people who have malaria and other diseases.

There is a shortage of Neosporin for wound care and Tylenol for pain.

Donations need not be name brands and can be left in the box at the Port Angeles Senior Center, located at 328 E. Seventh St.
