CORRECTED: Second-half property taxes due Friday in Clallam, Jefferson

This year’s second installment of 2014 property taxes is due Friday.

Payment for the second half of property taxes must be postmarked or placed in drop boxes by that day.

Mail dropped off in a U.S. postal mailbox after the pickup time could lead to a postmark of Nov. 1.

A postmark after Oct. 31 will be considered delinquent and be subject to additional interest and penalties.

In Clallam County, payments can be mailed to the Clallam County Treasurer’s Office, Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Suite 3, Port Angeles, WA 98362; paid in person at the Treasurer’s Office or online at www.clallam.net/Treasurer; or placed in the drop box at the courthouse.

There are no longer any drop-off locations in Forks and Sequim.

In Jefferson County, payments can be mailed to the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office, Jefferson County Courthouse, P.O. Box 571, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, WA 98368; paid in person at the treasurer’s office, online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/treasurer or by phone at 877-812-8072; or placed in a drop box.

Five drop boxes are available in East Jefferson County.

They are in the rear parking lot of the courthouse, at the Bank of America branch at 734 Water St. in Port Townsend, at the Bank of America branch at 10 Oak Bay Road in Port Hadlock, at the Sound Community Bank branch at 9500 Oak Bay Road in Port Ludlow and at the U.S. Bank branch at 14890 Center Road in Quilcene.

Most credit and debit cards can be accepted. A 2.5 percent fee is charged for credit card payments.

Electronic checks can be used to make payments.

Office hours in both counties are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The first half of 2014’s property taxes were due last April 30.
