EYE ON JEFFERSON: County eyes treatment site’s funding

Published 12:01 am Sunday, October 26, 2014

The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss a funding allocation for mental health and chemical dependency treatment at a meeting Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The allocation for 2015 is $567,127, which is collected from the so-called Hargrove Tax, established to support these services.

The fund creates a collaborative plan to supplement state funds with local money to develop a service network for county citizens, according to agenda materials.

In past years, the allocation has covered two years; the coverage period was shortened this year due to expected changes in the Affordable Care Act.

During the afternoon session, which begins at 1:30 p.m., commissioners will receive a briefing about proposed marijuana regulations from Department of Community Development Director Carl Smith.

Items on the consent agenda include:

■ A resolution to declare surplus property

■ A collective bargaining agreement for Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies

■ An agreement to allocate $60,000 for surveying services for the Rick Tollefson Trail

■ An agreement to allocate $76,241 for engineering services for a Salmon Creek culvert replacement on West Uncas Road
