Four persons, two of them children, injured in head-on crash east of Sequim

SEQUIM — Two children and two adults were injured Saturday after a GMC C10 pickup collided head-on with a Toyota Prius C sedan on U.S. Highway 101 about 3 miles east of Sequim, the State Patrol said.

The pickup’s driver, Ronald J. Wilcox, 59, of Port Angeles, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the State Patrol said. Wilcox, who was not injured in the crash, was booked into the Clallam County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.

Cori J. Wilcox, 14, a passenger in the pickup, and the Prius’ driver, Logan Aisling, 45, and his two passengers, Mindy Aisling, 35, and Noah Carlson, 11, were taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The State Patrol said Wilcox was westbound when he swerved over the center line to avoid stopped traffic waiting to turn left onto Louella Road, colliding with Aisling’s Prius in the eastbound lane.

Highway 101 was closed for 2 hours and 20 minutes by the 1:20 p.m. crash, the State Patrol said.

All drivers and riders in either vehicle were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said. Both vehicles were destroyed.
