PORT HADLOCK — A fifth wheel RV trailer caught fire and burned in the 600 block of Nesses Corner Road in Port Hadlock this afternoon. There were no injuries.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue was paged to the fire at 12:17 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the RV ablaze in the center of a field adjacent to Short’s Storage.

The fire was quickly quenched and crews began sifting through the remains of the structure within 20 minutes.

The owner of the RV, a Port Townsend resident, was not on scene, and law enforcement officials were attempting to make contact with him.

Passers-by said they saw flames coming from the rear of the RV and that no windows were broken. The door was closed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
