UPDATE: Power returns to downtown Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Electrical power has been returned to downtown Port Angeles following an approximately 75-minute outage this morning.

Winds blew a 7,200-volt power line behind the Richard Anderson Federal Building — on Oak Street south of First Street — into another, causing a bright explosive light visible as far away as Peabody Heights shortly before 7 a.m.

KONP was taken off the air on its AM band, but continued broadcasting on its FM band.
