PORT TOWNSEND — A demonstration protesting police brutality has been postponed until further notice according to a message posted on the organizer’s Facebook page.

The message, posted at 8 p.m. on Sunday, reads “We Are Postponing The Demonstration Until A Later Date. We Ran Out Of Time To Do This Right. We Hope To Have Someone Soon That Will Be Taking On A Role For This Event.”

The demonstration was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today on the steps of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St.

The demonstration was in response to a June 25 incident where a Port Townsend man alleges he was mistreated by police during a traffic stop. The police chief says his officers were following correct procedure.
