CAMP MURRAY — Washington state is requesting federal aid to help fix public facilities that were damaged in January’s flooding, storms and slides.

Today’s request is in addition to the presidential disaster declaration that was issued Jan. 30.

The new request applies to $49 million in public infrastructure damage in 22 counties: Chelan, Clallam, Columbia, Cowlitz, Garfield, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, King, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lewis, Lincoln, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Whatcom and Yakima.

If approved, federal grants could pay for 75 percent of the eligible repair costs. That could include debris removal and emergency responses, and damages to nonfederal roads, bridges, and public buildings and other facilities.
