Dental care at reduced charge to be offered in Sequim

SEQUIM – Tooth sleepy juice and sparkles will be helping children beginning today.

The SmileMobile, a modern dental office on wheels, will provide dental checkups for children and teens for 10 days at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St.

“We make sure each child is comfortable,” said clinic manager Monika Foro.

“Every child is different,” so SmileMobile staffers use gentleness and non-scary terms like “sleepy juice” that will “put your teeth to sleep,” telling young patients,

“You’re going to feel some sparkles.”

Its dentists accept Medicaid coupons and charge sliding-scale fees according to family income.

The majority of families served by the SmileMobile qualify for a 90 percent discount off of the $35 screening fee, so they pay only $3.50, Foro said.

If a family doesn’t qualify for a discount, parents can make arrangements for interest-free installments.
