PORT ANGELES – The city’s residential and commercial electricity customers could see a 5.9 percent monthly rate increase, beginning Oct. 1.

The increases, which would be per kilowatt hour, would be expected to result in costs of about $5.85 per month for residential customers, about $9.20 per month for small commercial customers, about $65 per month for larger commercial customers and about $1,575 per month for the largest commercial customers.

The City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed increases at its Tuesday meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The public hearing will begin at 7 p.m. and be continued until the council’s Sept. 4 meeting, when a decision could be made.
