Volunteers sought to help with tribal journey gathering

The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe is still seeking volunteers for the 2005 canoe journey it will host Monday through Aug. 6.

Especially sought are massage therapists to staff a healing tent.

Also needed are volunteers with shovels, rakes and — if possible — bulldozers and graders to level the parking lot next to the tribal clinic at 243511 U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles. Workers will gather there at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The tribe also seeks maintenance and food cleanup workers to join the 500-some volunteers who already have helped prepare for the Paddle to Elwha.

Volunteers should call the canoe journey office at 360-452-8471, Ext. 109, and ask for Cathy Benzler or Mary Lawrence.
