Port Hadlock: Tri-Area gazes into its future at open house on growth plans

PORT HADLOCK — A large turnout to a Tri-Area Urban Growth Area open house on Tuesday has county planning officials hoping that public excitement for the project is growing.

Jefferson County officials mingled with dozens of residents to discuss sewage, traffic and stormwater drainage plans inside Port Hadlock and Irondale during the open house at the Washington State University Cooperative Extension Spruce Room.

“The public has heard talk about this for so long, I think the opinion of many was to wait until something actually happened,” Planning Commission Chairman Tom McNerney said.

“I think this has convinced them that something is really happening.”

At least 100 people showed up at the afternoon-evening event to browse through displays and talk with project officials and consultants.
