Sequim: City Council to take first look at 2004 budget

SEQUIM — City Council members will get their first look at a proposed operating budget for 2004 at their study session Wednesday morning.

The budget, formulated differently than in past years, calls for just more than $14.27 million in expenditures.

City Administrative Services Director Marva Dryke said previous budgets reflected transfers between funds, leaving a somewhat distorted picture of how much the city spends.

Dryke, whose experience has primarily included private-sector accounting, said she felt a pure revenues-versus-expenditures approach would serve the city better.

“It’s just simpler this way, and gives council members a much more readable document to work with,” Dryke said.
