Port Townsend: Ethics board will investigate councilwoman, but not for conflict of interest

Published 12:01 am Friday, March 14, 2003

PORT TOWNSEND — An investigation into whether City Councilwoman Freida Fenn violated Port Townsend’s ethics code will start next Wednesday.

On Thursday, a three-member board voted that an ethics complaint lodged against Fenn merited investigation.

But the board threw out allegations that Fenn had a conflict of interest when she introduced a demolition moratorium aimed at Point Hudson during a Jan. 6 council meeting.

The board’s investigation will focus solely on whether Fenn failed to disclose a possible financial tie to Point Hudson when she introduced the ordinance, board members said.

The board’s investigation will kick off at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the council chambers of City Hall, 540 Water St.

It will have 21 days to investigate the complaint.
