Clallam: Extension service no longer on budget cut list

PORT ANGELES — Seeing llamas in front of Clallam County Courthouse — and hearing advice from his wife — helped persuade County Commissioner Mike Chapman to take the Washington State University Cooperative Extension Service off his budget cut list.

“I certainly heard from the community,” Chapman said Monday during the budget work session that his board colleagues agreed to last week.

“We were picketed by llamas this morning. . . . It was a sight that I will never forget,” Chapman joked.

The extension service, housed in the courthouse, assists 4-H groups throughout the county.
