Port Angeles: Alternatives to budget cutbacks proposed by Monroe parents

PORT ANGELES — Parents called on school district officials to sell the Central Services Building and move administrative offices to a school campus instead of closing a school.

At the second in a series of community forums Thursday on proposed budget cuts to balance a projected $1 million deficit, Monroe Elementary School parent Randy McHone provided officials with a list of proposals for trimming the school district budget by nearly $1.8 million.

The list, developed by a group of Monroe school parents the night before, was offered as an alternative to 37 budget-cutting recommendations offered Feb. 11 by a Port Angeles School District budget review committee.
