PA teams meet in Presidents’ title game

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles White 8th-grade team won their division championship at the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation’s Red Lion Presidents’ Day Youth Basketball Tournament last weekend.

PA White beat PA Green 46-43 as John Vaara hit three free throws in the final 23 seconds.

A total of 67 teams from all over western Washington participated.

The final standings were:

Boys 4th Grade Division — Bainbridge Roots, first; White River Sting, second; Port Angeles Green, third; South Kitsap Elite, third; Port Angeles White, fifth; LaPush BallStars, sixth. Championship Game: Roots 35, Sting 30.

Boys 5th Grade Division — Marysville, first; White River Sting, second; Sequim Wolves Gold, third; Bainbridge Roots, fourth; Port Angeles White, fifth; Forks Spartans, sixth; South Kitsap Elite, seventh; Enumclaw Hornets, eighth, Sequim Purple, ninth; Anacortes Seahawks, 10th; Drive (Poulsbo), 11th; Port Angeles Green, 12th. Championship Game: Marysville 46, White River 36.

Boys 6th Grade Division — South Kitsap Elite, first; White River Sting, second; Bainbridge Roots, third; Port Angeles, fourth; Rivals (Port Townsend/Chimacum), fourth; North Mason Bulldogs, fourth. Championship Game: S.K.Eiite 68, White River Sting 54.

Boys 7th Grade Division — DRIVE Basketball, first; Sumner, second; Sequim Wolves, third; Bainbridge Roots, fourth; NW Fierce (Port Townsend), fifth; Port Angeles Green, sixth; Enumclaw Hornets, seventh; Port Angeles White, eighth; South Kitsap Elite, ninth; Anacortes Gold, 10th; Sequim Purple, 11th; Anacortes Purple, 12th. Championship Game: DRIVE 54, Sumner 44.

Girls 6th Grade Purple Division — White River Sting, first; Meadowdale Lady Mavs, second; Blaine Dauntless, third; Port Angeles Threat, fourth; Southside Swish (Bellingham), fifth. Championship Game: White River Sting 25, Meadowdale Lady Mavs 20.

Girls 6th Grade Blue Division — White River Sting, first; Anacortes Seahawks, second; Bainbridge Roots, third; Sequim Wolves, fourth. Championship Game: White River Sting 23, Anacortes Seahawks 16.

Girls 7th Grade Division — Meadowdale Lady Mavs, first; Sequim Wolves, second; Forks Spartans, third; Port Angeles Apex, fourth. Championship Game: Meadowdale Lady Mavs 45, Sequim Wolves 28.

Girls 8th Grade Division — CWS-Toppenish, first; Mountlake Terrace, second; White River Sting, third; Meadowdale Lady Mavs, fourth; Bainbridge Roots, fifth; Mount Baker, sixth; P.A.Hazard, seventh. Championship Game: CWS-Toppenish 49, Mountlake Terrace 36.

Clark cited by WIAA

RENTON — Port Angeles’s Liam Clark was named the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-10 thanks to two monster games.

Clark, a 6-foot-7 post, recorded a triple-double in a 60-43 win over North Mason on Jan. 19 with 19 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks. He followed that up with 16 points, 16 rebounds, eight blocks, and five steals in the Roughridgers’ victory over Kingston on Jan. 26.
