PORT TOWNSEND — Two drivers escaped injury when their vehicles collided at the intersection of state Highway 20 and South Discovery Road, said an East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman.
East Jefferson Fire-Rescue was called to the wreck at 3:06 p.m. Thursday after an eastbound purple Chevrolet SSR pickup pulled out in front of a southbound semi-truck loaded with paper rolls from the Port Townsend Paper Co., said Bill Beezley of East Jefferson Fire-Rescue.
The driver of the semi, a 28-year old man from Oxnard, Calif., was unable to stop his vehicle before striking the SSR, driven by an 82-year old Port Townsend man, Beezley said. No others were in the vehicles, he said.
The fire department does not identify people involved in wrecks, citing privacy concerns.
Both drivers were evaluated by emergency medical personnel before being released without injury.
The crash slowed traffic for more than an hour.
