SEQUIM — The Port Townsend girls soccer team put the finishing touches on its regular season with a 6-1 win over Olympic League rival Sequim on Tuesday night.
The Redskins (4-7-1 in league, 5-7-1 overall) put away the last-place Wolves (0-10-1, 1-13-1) with four second half goals, three coming from Khloe Frank, as they warmed up for Thursday night’s Class 1A pigtail playoff game at Memorial Field.
“Everybody played well,” Port Townsend coach Colin Foden said. “It was good preparation for our playoff game on Thursday.”
Breanna Hemsley, Emelina Berkshire and Irina Lyons each added goals for Port Townsend, which finished sixth in the 1A/2A/3A Olympic.
Sequim got its lone goal off a penalty kick in the 39th minute, but couldn’t manage any more offense the rest of the night against the Redskins.
Foden singled out the play of Jennifer Grauberger, Chelsea Whipple and Megan Gambill for the strong defensive showing.
“Our defense was solid as usual,” he said.
Port Townsend will face either Vashon Island or Seattle Christian in a loser-out contest on Thursday at 5 p.m.
A win there would put the Redskins in the single-elimination Tri-District bracket.
Sequim heads to North Mason (1-9-1, 1-11-1) on Thursday with the chance to tie the Bulldogs for the Olympic League’s third and final 2A playoff spot.

SILVERDALE — The Riders are headed to the playoffs for the first time in nine years despite dropping their Olympic League finale on Tuesday night.
Bremerton’s 5-1 loss at the hands of North Kitsap guaranteed the Riders (4-6-1, 6-7-1) a spot in the sub-district playoffs Nov. 3.
The news was the perfect pick-me-up after the Riders lost a defensive battle to the Trojans.
“The girls were all screaming,” Port Angeles coach Scott Moseley said.
“It’s a pretty big deal.”
Port Angeles last reached the sub-district level in 2000, when it reached the league playoffs.
Yet with its third-place finish among the league’s 3A teams, the Riders earned the right to take on Yelm (4-9) a the Tornadoes’ place with a trip to districts on the line.
“At the start of the season I was just excited to win a couple of games,” Moseley said. “The thought of playoffs didn’t even occur to us until halfway through the season.
“The girls are pretty excited that they had such a turnaround.”

NEAH BAY — The Red Devils ended the Loggers run of consecutive North Olympic League titles at seven in strong fashion Tuesday.
There was only one close game as Neah Bay, ranked No. 1 in the state for Class 1B, won 25-7, 25-20, 25-14.
That was the final league match for the Red Devils as the Loggers host the Clallam Bay Bruins on Thursday for the No. 2 and final league berth in postseason play.
Now the Red Devils train for tri-district play, which begins Nov. 4 at Crescent and then switches to Coupeville for the following weekend.
“Everyone contributed against Crescent, and now we look to district play and concentrate on earning a tripe back to state,” Neah Bay coach Chon Clayton said.
The Red Devils have played in the state championships for the past three years.
“We will focus on team dynamics and the girls playing as a team,” Clayton said.
Neah Bay played like a team against the Loggers, according to Clayton.
“We played very well,” he said. “We played good, consistent volleyball.”
Alisha Kallappa had 13 straight serves in the first game for the Red Devils.
“That was a very nice way to start off,” Clayton said. “That put Crescent in a hole right away.”
It took a full game for Crescent to get into the flow of things.
“We came out lethargic in the first game,” Crescent coach Alex Baker said. “We played poorly in Game 1 but we played better in Game 2.
“We had good play by a few individual players but we did not have good team play.”
First-year sophomore Sarah Moore came off the bench and played well, Baker said, while Mikela Williams was aggressive at the net.
The Neah Bay JV team beat Crescent 2-1.
