Sports: Forks could enter playoffs undefeated with win tonight

FORKS — The undefeated Forks High School volleyball team wraps up the regular season today at 7 p.m.

But the Spartans’ year is far from over.

Forks hosts Elma tonight in a Southwest Washington League Evergreen Division finale.

The Spartans (9-0 in league, 12-0 overall) have already clinched the division title and a place in the two-day Southwest Washington District 4 playoffs, set for Nov. 5 and 8 at Montesano High School.

Forks will face the No. 4 team from the Southwest Washington League’s Trico Division in the first round at districts. In all likelihood, that team will be Castle Rock, Forks coach Patty Brandt said Wednesday.

The top four teams from the eight-team district tournament move on to state.
