HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Sequim boys and Port Townsend girls advance in district playoffs

A pair of North Olympic Peninsula teams advanced in the district playoffs Wednesday night.

Sequim’s boys team beat Steliacoom 62-57 at Lakes High School in Tacoma to move on to the double-elimination round of the 2A West Central District tournament.

The Wolves will face Franklin Pierce on Friday, also at Lakes High School.

The Port Townsend girls won on the road at Overlake 42-38 in the 1A tri-district playoffs and will next play Blaine at Mountlake Terrace High School on Friday.

Thursday’s games

Neah Bay boys vs. Evergreen Lutheran, at Mount Vernon Christian School, 3 p.m.

Port Townsend boys vs. Mount Baker, at Mountlake Terrace, 4:30 p.m.

Neah Bay girls vs. Tulalip Heritage, at Mount Vernon Christian School, 4:45 p.m.

Port Angeles girls vs. No. 9 Renton, at Foss High School, 7:45 p.m.
