GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bruin girls show their claws in win over Port Townsend

CLALLAM BAY — The Clallam Bay Bruin girls held off a comeback from Port Townsend and knocked off the 1A Redhawks 43-37 on Monday.

With the win, Clallam Bay improved its record to 9-1. The Bruins are ranked No. 4 in the state in the RPI rankings for 1B girls.

Clallam Bay got up 26-13 in the first half, but the Redhawks made a game of it with a 14-7 third quarter.

Patience Swan led the Bruins with 13 points, while Amber Swan had 12 points. Koren Cumming had 11 points.

Port Townsend was led by Izzy Hammett who had 16 points. Gina Brown added 10.

Clallam Bay (1-0, 9-1) has a huge game at 5:45 p.m. today against rival Neah Bay (1-0, 6-5). The Red Devils are ranked No. 16 in RPI among 1B girls teams.

Port Townsend (1-1, 4-9) will host Olympic League 1A rival Klahowya (3-0, 9-6) at 7 p.m. today.
