ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mia McNair, Chimacum girls basketball

Mia McNair has been on fire for the Chimacum Cowboys girls basketball team during the past week.

McNair, coming off a rough 7-point game against 2A North Mason, bounced back in a big way to score 34 points in a league win over Klahowya on Dec. 7. She followed that up by scoring 27 against Concrete. She hit eight 3-pointers in those two games alone.

And then this weekend, despite Port Townsend focusing much of its defense on her, she scored 11 points in the second half (and 16 overall) to help lead the Cowboys to victory.

On the season, McNair is averaging 19.7 points a game. Thanks largely to this super-soph’s efforts, the Cowboys are undefeated in Olympic League 1A Division play and 3-3 overall.
