AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Sprague resigns as Crescent volleyball coach

JOYCE — Kimber Sprague has announced her resignation as head volleyball coach at Crescent High School.

Sprague began her tenure with the Crescent Loggers in 2015 as an assistant coach and was promoted to head coach prior to the 2019 season. During her six years leading the volleyball program, she compiled a 40-25 record. Under her guidance, the Loggers qualified for the Northwest 1B Tri-District Tournament in each of the past three seasons.

Sprague has also served the district as the school’s head track coach, middle school boys basketball coach and assistant high school boys basketball coach.

In a statement, the Crescent School District thanked Sprague for her dedication, leadership and the positive impact she has had on student-athletes.

The district is currently seeking applications for her replacement. Interested individuals can find more information at www.csd313.org or by calling the school office at 360-928-3311.

Blaze thanks board

PORT ANGELES — At 5:45 p.m. Saturday at the Monroe Athletic Field in Port Angeles, the local Northern Peninsula Football Club women’s recreational team, the Blaze, will be thanking NPFC board members Steve Shively, Juan Carlos Cisneros, Javier Gomez and David Henderson and Jess Haugen for supporting the women’s team. The NPFC will likely also welcome a new board member at the event.

Sponsor RE/MAX Team McAleer will also be recognized for funding the purchase of jersey kits and training tops.

The short ceremony will precede a 6 p.m. game between the NPFC Blaze and the local Sequim Junior Soccer Girls U19 team, “The Queens.”
