League of Women Voters county charter forum planned

Zoom event to detail amendments

PORT ANGELES — The League of Women Voters of Clallam County will offer an online forum detailing the amendments to the Clallam County Charter at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The league’s Zoom forum will detail the amendments to the county charter, with Charter Review Commission members representing views supporting and in opposition to proposed amendments.

A link for the forum is on the League of Women Voters’ website at lwvcla.org.

Audience members are encouraged to submit questions for the speakers in advance.

Questions for the Charter Review Amendments forum must be submitted to info@lwvcla.org no later than 5 p.m. Monday; put “Charter Review” in the subject line, and include one’s full name.

The league hosted an online Zoom forum featuring State Sen. Kevin Van De Wege, D-Sequim, the incumbent, against challenger Connie Beauvais, R-Port Angeles, on Oct. 4. Recordings of that forum, as well as the Oct. 13 Clallam County Charter forum, will be posted online at lwvcla.org.

Challengers to 24th Legislative District incumbents Mike Chapman, D-Port Angeles, and Steve Tharinger, D-Port Townsend — respectively, Sue Forde, R-Sequim, and Brian Pruiett, R-Carlsborg — declined invitations for forums, league representatives said.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is “to promote the informed and active participation of citizens in government.”
