PORT ANGELES -Among the estimated 226 seniors graduating tonight from Port Angeles High School will be four rock stars.
Eric Whitman, Ben Eyestone, Colin Field and Mark Fredson – four 18-year old members of the five-piece rock band, The Lonely H – plan to walk through commencement with little fanfare.
“We’re just four dudes,” said Eyestone, the band’s drummer.
“We haven’t been a big part of the high school . . . We’re not popular . . . we’re not in the cool crowd.”
After graduation, they are preparing to do what most teenage boys dream about.
They will launch a nation-wide rock tour of 34 venues in 19 states.
“I can’t wait. I can’t wait to get done with high school,” Eyestone said.
“It’s a big boulder on my back and I’m so glad to get it over with,” said Field, a guitarist.
The band will play two shows in the Puget Sound area before the tour – at Nectar in Seattle on June 21, and at The Library in Tacoma on June 29.
The fifth band member, bass player Johnny Whitman, 20 – Eric Whitman’s brother – has been in Seattle attending the University of Washington since the fall of 2005.
