WEST END: State Route 112 to be designated Scenic Byway today

>

A busload of tourism promoters takes a ride along state Route 112 today to celebrate the highway’s designation as a National Scenic Byway.

The trip starts in Port Angeles, continues to Clallam Bay and Sekiu and ends with a salmon dinner in Neah Bay.

A public dedication ceremony is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Clallam Bay County Park in Clallam Bay. The event will highlight the new interpretive entry signs posted along the highway on the Clallam Bay and Sekiu sides.

The Federal Highway Administration awarded the byway honor to state Route 112 last year.

It provides an opportunity for additional grant funding to improve the attractiveness of the scenic, winding route.
