West End commencements Saturday kick off graduation season on Peninsula

North Olympic Peninsula high school commencements begin Saturday with ceremonies in Forks and Neah Bay.

About 830 public high school and 356 college students in the Peninsula will graduate during ceremonies conducted over the next two weeks.

On Saturday, about 26 Neah Bay High School students will participate in graduation ceremonies at 1 p.m. in the school gymnasium, 3560 Deer St.

At 7 p.m. that night, the ceremony for about 73 Forks High School students will be conducted in the school gymnasium, 191 S. Spartan Ave.

Other Peninsula graduation ceremonies are:

• Jefferson Community School — four students, 6 p.m. Wednesday at 280 Quincy St., Port Townsend. A reception will follow at Cafe Undertown, 211 Taylor St.

• Port Townsend High School — about 110 students, 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, at McCurdy Pavilion in Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend.

• Sequim High School — about 220 students, 6 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the high school football stadium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

• Peninsula College — some 150 graduates are expected to attend commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the college’s gymnasium on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

State Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens, who served 19 years as a District Court judge in the West End before she was elected to the Supreme Court in 2000, will deliver the keynote address.

A total of 356 students applying for degrees are receiving 382 degrees or certificates.

• Quilcene High School — about 23 students, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, in the school gymnasium, 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

• Clallam Bay High School — eight students, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the school gymnasium, 16933 state Highway 112.

• Crescent High School — 19 students, 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, in the school gymnasium, 50350 state Highway 112.

• Chimacum High School — 90 students, 7 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at McCurdy Pavilion in Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend.

• Lincoln High School of Port Angeles — about 20 students, 4 p.m. Thursday, June 17, in the Little Theatre at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

• Port Angeles High School — about 240 students, 8 p.m. Friday, June 18, in the school gymnasium, 304 E. Park Ave. Tickets are required. Graduation ceremony tickets will be distributed to seniors on June 14. Extra tickets will be given to them on June 16.
