Tour officer’s quarters
PORT TOWNSEND — Fort Worden will host Holidays at the Commanding Officer’s Quarters from noon to 5 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.
The quarters will be open and decorated for the holidays so people can tour the 1904 home and partake of the Edwardian grandeur of old Fort Worden.

Open parlor tours
PORT TOWNSEND — Holiday Open Parlor Tours at Port Townsend bed-and-breakfasts and inns are planned from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $15. Reservations are recommended. Tickets also can be purchased at the first listed venue of each tour, which are scheduled each Saturday through Dec. 20.
Old Consulate Inn, Huber’s Inn, Quimper Inn and Bishop Victorian Hotel are on this Saturday’s tour.
Historically costumed docents, seasonal music and holiday treats are planned.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, the tour will be of Commander’s Beach House, Ravenscroft Inn, Old Consulate Inn and Bishop Victorian Hotel.
On Dec. 13, it will be of Quimper Inn, Blue Gull Inn, McCurdy House and Bishop Victorian Hotel.
On Dec. 20, it will be of Blue Gull Inn, Huber’s Inn, Old Consulate Inn and Bishop Victorian Hotel.

Audubon field trip
PORT TOWNSEND — Admiralty Audubon will host a free field trip to Fort Flagler State Park from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The trip starts at Portage Bridge Park, Indian Island. It’ll be the first right after crossing the portage bridge.
There will be stops along Indian Island to check out the mud flats for shore birds.
Then, the group will head to Fort Flagler RV campground, located at the end of Campground Road.
Anyone wanting to carpool from Port Townsend should meet at the Park and Ride near Safeway by 8:30 a.m.

Protection Island cruise
PORT TOWNSEND — A Thanksgiving weekend cruise to Protection Island is set from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The cruise on a Puget Sound Express boat leaving from Point Hudson Marina, 227 Jackson St., costs $55 for members of the general public and $50 for members of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.
The Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge is home to breeding, nesting and flyway populations of nearly 100 marine bird species at different times of the year.
Cruises are hosted by naturalist Roger Risley, who provides commentary on the natural history of the island and its wildlife.
A cruise also is planned on New Year’s Eve.

Call for artists
PORT TOWNSEND — Entries are due Sunday and Monday for the Northwind Arts Center’s 13th annual Small Expressions show, planned Dec. 5-29.
Entries should be submitted at Northwind’s new location at the Waterman-Katz Building, 701 Water St., between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday.
The center’s Small Expressions show, which is open to original works by local artists, will be the first show in its new location.
Pieces can be no larger than 15 inches, including framing or mounting.
The show will be juried by Teresa Verraes, former owner of a fine art and jewelry gallery in Port Townsend.

Fourth Friday Readings
SEQUIM — Writers on the Spit will celebrate another evening of readings with featured writers Karen Hogan and Linda Myers at Rainshadow Coffee Bar, 157 W. Cedar St., at 6:30 tonight.
The public is invited to arrive at 6 p.m. to select a favorite seat and a special-brewed coffee drink.
Hogan writes short stories, lyrical essays, poetry and narrative nonfiction.
Arriving in Sequim in 2013, she came from Livermore, Calif., where she hosted a literary salon for 10 years and published five anthologies of writings from that salon.
Myers moved to Port Angeles from Chicago in 2005. Her first nonfiction book, The Great Lakes: North America’s Inland Sea, was published by Outdoor World.
Fourth Friday Readings include an hour of open-mic readings. Writers are encouraged to rehearse in advance, as each writer is given five minutes to read.

PORT ANGELES — “Christmas Belles” a play by the Port Angeles Community Players, continues tonight, Saturday and Sunday at the players’ playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
It also will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Dec. 5-6, with another matinee Sunday, Dec. 7.
Basic reserved-seat ticket prices are $12 for adults and $6 for students for Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday matinees and Tuesdays. Festival seating will be sold at the door for $6 on Tuesdays.

Lions Club breakfast
JOYCE — The Crescent Bay Lions Club is offering breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.
The cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and younger for the breakfast at the club on state Highway 112 at Holly Hill Road.
The Lions are offering breakfasts every Sunday, except holidays, until Mother’s Day on May 10. There are no breakfasts planned for Dec. 21 or 28.
The menu includes eggs cooked to order, hot cakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns and ham, sausage or bacon.
Proceeds help Crescent Bay Lions members support Crescent School yearbooks, scholarships for Crescent High School seniors, holiday food baskets, glasses for the needy and other community projects.
