WEEKEND: Saturday’s Port Townsend Gallery Walk to be ‘magic time’

PORT TOWNSEND — “Magic time” photography. Drums made of Peruvian walnut. Yoga props that serve as functional art: They’re all on tap this Saturday during the downtown Gallery Walk from 5:30 p.m. till 8 p.m.

Admission is free and refreshments laid out at participating galleries, including:

■ The Port Townsend Gallery, 715 Water St., where the show is titled “Once in a Blue Moon.” Gallery members have interpreted the theme of blue, in hue or mood. Works on display range from pottery and fabrics to paintings and photography.

■ Gallery 9, 1012 Water St., showcases hand drums by Tom Stewart, including one made of Peruvian walnut and inlaid with wood mosaic.

Stewart also displays his yoga props, Zen gardens and yin-yang pieces, which he calls “functional art, which is good for the soul.”

Gracing Gallery 9’s walls are Nancy Cherry Eifert’s photographs, taken on her recent backpacking sojourns.

She captured the images in this show in the early mornings and late afternoons — “magic time” for natural light.

■ The Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson St., brings together birds and other wildlife in pastels and watercolors by Randena Walsh; raku pottery by Mary Hosick and paintings that artist Catherine Gill calls her “interpretations of the land.”

For this November show, Northwind will have a party Saturday evening plus a free artists’ talk at 1 p.m. Sunday.
